After doctor’s hospital rounds, I asked the attending physician why he scolded the leukemia patient.

He said "Do you know what the most important thing to cure patients?"

I said "No."

He told me that it was whether or not patients have the will to live.

For example, if you want to be thin, you need to exercise or closely regulate your food intake.

Simply hoping to be thin won’t make you thin.

Practice is needed.

And tough mind is also needed for you to continue persevering.

The same thing can be said for that leukemia patient.

In the near future, he will suffer more severe side effects because of his chemotherapy(anti cancer drug therapy).

Then, if he doesn’t have the will to live,it will be very difficult for him to persevere through his chemotherapy.

This was the reason attending physician said such a severe thing to a patient.

More than anyone, he hopes that his patients will have a strong will to get through their treatments and go on to live the rest of their lives.
